"Great mix of natural and wooden features”
Detroit Mountain's Natural Play Area is an outdoor play space that is designed to be exploratory in nature, with features made of natural materials like logs and boulders, as well as some commercially produced elements consisting of a tunnel, two slides, and a climbing net.
Use of the Natural Play Area is provided at no charge, but please consider buying a summer pass or making a daily donation to help support the maintenance and expansion of our natural play area. Visitors are also asked to fill out a liability waiver at the XC trail head.
The Natural Play Area was in part of Detroit Mountain's grant from the state's Parks and Trails Legacy Grant Program, which included an expansion of 147 additional acres, development of the natural play area, paving and landscaping near our Landslide Tubing Park, as well as an expansion to Detroit Mountain’s bike park.
